Welcome to the Teacher Training UK Programme Page

Within the programmes page, information relating to the structure of both the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training and the QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status) will be explained.  The information will include topics such as who the programme is for, entry requirements and the components of the programme.

Innovative Programme Offer

The Teacher Training UK programme offers both graduates and non-graduates the opportunity to work towards obtaining Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status. The QTLS status is equivalent to that of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), therefore, holders of the QTLS status will be able to teach within a Primary, Secondary, Further and Higher Education setting.

Diploma in Education and Training

The Level 5 Diploma in Teaching and Education will be undertaken during the first twelve months of the programme in order to prepare trainee teachers to be able to teach in a variety of contexts.  The diploma requires a minimum of eight hours of observation and assessment of practice in order to fulfil the requirements of the programme.

Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills

Upon completion of the Diploma in Education and Training, students will then complete an online workbook and undertake formal assessment twice during the QTLS portion of the programme. Once completed, the student will gain QTLS status which is equivalent to qualified teacher status, enabling them to teach within a Primary, Secondary, Further and Higher Education context.
